In a significant technological milestone, DGS, a member of Hong Kong’s startup community Cyberport, has launched China’s first digital stamps on the Polygon blockchain. This historic initiative, in collaboration with China Post Hong Kong Limited, marked a digital evolution of a key aspect of Chinese heritage.

The project, which digitizes a crucial part of China’s cultural history, involved partnerships with the University of Hong Kong’s Financial Innovation and Development Research Center and the Beijing Longyuan Traditional Culture Exchange Promotion Center.
The digital stamps, inspired by China Post’s “Year of Jia Chen” special postage stamps, integrate traditional cultural elements with modern blockchain technology. Each stamp in the collection is linked to a digital twin on the Polygon blockchain, featuring a unique identification number. The initial release included 10,000 stamps, each mirroring a physical counterpart.
Chen Dacan, the chair of China Post Hong Kong Co., emphasized the importance of this collection in promoting Chinese traditional culture through innovative forms. The stamps hold significant cultural value, representing the spirit and pride of the Chinese nation. The 2024 “Year of Jia Chen” corresponds to the year of the dragon in the Chinese zodiac, a symbol of courage, power, wisdom, and dignity.
Di Na, the executive director of the Beijing Longyuan Traditional Culture Exchange Promotion Center, highlighted the cultural significance of the digital stamp collection. It aims to carry forward the Chinese dragon culture and spread China’s voice globally, showcasing the unique charm of Chinese traditions integrated with advanced technology.
The project by DGS demonstrates the capability of the Polygon blockchain to support the tokenization of real-world assets. Lin Chen, associate vice president of the University of Hong Kong, remarked on Polygon’s robustness in facilitating such innovative applications. DGS also offers personalized digital stamps, allowing users to add unique information like collector’s names or messages on the blockchain.
This development reflects the growing appeal of Polygon in the blockchain space, evidenced by its high developer activity. Despite recent challenges, including a decrease in MATIC’s value, Polygon remains a key platform for blockchain innovations, especially in integrating technology with cultural heritage.
