By Anjali Kochhar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Golden State Warriors basketball team co-owner, and online retailer Zappos\u2019 founder, Nick Swinmurn has announced entry into the non-fungible token game with Play Hellebore, a sports-style platform that lets users predict the outcome of professional sports games for blockchain-based prizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Users can begin by purchasing a \u201cSiber\u201d NFT for 0.03 ETH (around $50), which grants them access to the site where they can form leagues and play head-to-head matchups to win \u201cNFT prizes, merch and unique fan engagement experiences,\u201d according to a statement shared by the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The game is the latest addition to the larger fantasy sports NFT family. The top-heavy genre is currently dominated by Sorare and Dapper Labs, who both tout partnerships with nearly all of the major sports leagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPlay Hellebore isn\u2019t meant to replace traditional fantasy sports,\u201d Swinmurn told CoinDesk. \u201cWe expect crypto natives [to be] early adopters that know the value of digital ownership, but we are also passionate about helping to educate and onboard newcomers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The mint for Play Hellebore has opened, and the first sports users can predict outcomes of baseball, football and soccer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The company plans to add games like hockey, golf, tennis and basketball integrations by the end of 2023, according to its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n About the author<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Anjali Kochhar covers cryptocurrency stories in India as well as globally.
