Blockchain pioneer Neo is breaking new ground with the unveiling of the highly anticipated APAC Hackathon. This event, organized in partnership with OKX, promises to be a crucible of innovation, featuring a remarkable $120,000 prize pool and a $1 million post-hackathon grant fund supported by the Neo Foundation.
Here’s what we know:
The Hackathon will transpire from July to October, with two-day offline events in Tokyo, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangalore, Seoul, and Singapore. Virtual participation sessions will complement these on-ground activities, making the Hackathon accessible to all, regardless of their location.
The collaboration with OKX will result in unique NFTs exclusively designed for Hackathon participants, further highlighting the shared vision between Neo and OKX. This partnership aims to fuel further innovation in the transformative realm of blockchain technology.
The grand finale will be a prestigious celebration in Hong Kong where the overall winning team will be declared, and the top 20 teams will have the opportunity to showcase their projects. To enable their participation, Neo will offer travel grants to these teams.
Five categories will shape this year’s Hackathon: DeFi and Payment; NFT and Gaming; AI, Social and DAO; Infrastructure and Tooling; and General. Each category carries a $10,000 prize awarded in NEO tokens.
A notable inclusion in this year’s Hackathon is the acceptance of EVM-based projects alongside Neo N3 projects. This move aims to encourage interoperability among blockchains and stimulate innovative applications.
Neo founder, Da Hongfei, expressed his excitement over the Hackathon’s launch. He noted the flourishing nature of the Web3 industry in the APAC region and reiterated Neo’s commitment to supporting ecosystem projects.
