Druk Holding and Investments (DHI), the investment arm of the Royal Government of Bhutan, has just revealed a virtual world named Bhutanverse. The project was announced during the FAB23 Bhutan International Conference held in Thimphu.

DHI partnered with Smobler from Singapore and The Sandbox, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Animoca Brands. Together, they’re building a digital realm that lets people experience the beauty of Bhutan’s culture, history, and art.

Bhutanverse is like a special piece of land in The Sandbox, a big digital world based on blockchain technology. It’s like a portal where people from around the world can visit and feel like they’re in Bhutan. This digital space will feature traditional Bhutanese designs, art, and buildings.

Ujjwal Deep Dahal, the CEO of DHI, explained that Bhutanverse is a space for creative people from all over the world to come together. Artists, developers, and architects who are interested in new technology will have a special place to share their ideas and work on exciting projects. This virtual space will also let people explore how cool Web3 technologies can be.

The main goal of Bhutanverse is to help people learn and grow. It will do this by:

  • Creating a community of people who love new technology in Bhutan and around the world.
  • Connecting Bhutan with the global community that works on the internet’s next big things.
  • Giving students, business owners, and creative minds a place to play with new tech ideas.

DHI is starting Bhutanverse with a big challenge. They’re asking artists to design the world together. This will speed up the project and help them find the best ideas. The virtual world will showcase the creations by local artists.

Loretta Chen from Smobler said that Bhutanverse is not only a fun project, but it can also help people make money and learn new things. It’s like a digital city without borders, where anyone can join and make cool things.

Sebastien Borget from The Sandbox said that they’re proud to help Bhutanese creators find new jobs and share their culture with the world.

Bhutanverse is one of the many things DHI is doing with Web3 and blockchain tech. They’re also working on a digital ID project and a carbon credit platform. These projects are helping Bhutan grow and be a part of the global technology world.

DHI’s CEO Dahal believes that Bhutanverse is a big step into the future. It will help Bhutanese people use new tech to build great things and find exciting new jobs.
