Sir Anthony Hopkins, a film, television, and theatre legend, who has won Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and Oscars, has teamed up with Web3 media business Orange Comet for a forthcoming series of NFT drops displaying his artistic endeavours.

The Eternal Collection project consists of three drops, each of which is centred around a collection of ten digital animations of actor Anthony Hopkins that are renderings of various Jungian character archetypes that Hopkins has played throughout his career.

Additionally, parts of Hopkins’ paintings are incorporated into their designs.

The NFT collection is slated to go live on NFT marketplace OpenSea tentatively on September 16.

About the project

The collection’s motif, which Hopkins developed in collaboration with the Orange Comet team, is what gave rise to the project’s name.

The animations comprise the archetypes of the Hero, the Rebel, the Magician, the Sage, the Ruler, the Explorer, the Lover, the Creator, the Giver, and the Jester.

Hopkins’ face is depicted in the videos in hyper-realistic digital representations.

They will last between 30 and 45 seconds.

For a total of 1,000 NFTs in the PFP component of the drop, each of the 10 animations will have a distinct release of 100 PFP versions of its own Jungian character theme.

Additionally, Orange Comet will put up for auction a unique edit of all 10 of the character animations, known as a 1 of 1 NFT.

Hopkins will give a share of the auction’s revenues to a charity of his choice.

Each of the three levels of the collection—the 1 of 1 Iconic NFT, the 10 Legendary animations, and the 1,000 Distinguished PFPs—will have a unique set of benefits, such as in-person encounters (like a private brunch with Hopkins), physical prints of the NFT artwork that have been autographed, and exclusive audio recordings of Hopkins discussing the archetypes in meetings with the Orange Comet team.

“When Margam Fine Art approached us with the artistic vision to bring Sir Anthony Hopkins’ artwork to the metaverse, we knew this was a unique opportunity for the world of NFTs,” said Orange Comet CEO Dave Broome said.

“This relationship is a superb symbiosis of technology and art from one of the finest actors and artists of our day,” he added.

Hopkins making advances in the NFT industry

“NFTs are a blank canvas to create art. At first, I was nervous [about creating them], but you’ve got to get on with it. Try everything, at any age. Don’t be limited by age. You can do it. There is nothing to win, nothing to lose. Just do it,” Hopkins said.

Hopkins said the Rebel speaks to him the most when asked which archetype in the collection he has the greatest affinity towards.

“I’ve been a rebel my entire life. I’ve always been an outsider. I feel some other author wrote the story of my life,” Hopkins said.

Expressing gratitude to the NFT community

Notably, the actor has interacted with the NFT community before.

Hopkins had tweeted in June that he was interested in learning more about the area and requested guidance from Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Fallon, and Reese Witherspoon on how to get started.

The famous actor ended up buying pieces from Nyla Hayes, Brendan Murphy, and Danny Cole after the tweet received a lot of attention from prominent figures in the NFT community, including Beeple.

Hopkins also starred in the movie Zero Contact last year, which was distributed as an NFT through the NFT entertainment distribution network Vuele.

The actor attributes this to piqued his interest in technology.
